Draw This And Die

In the spirit of International Blasphemy Rights Day 2010, I wish to direct your attention to a video of Muslims attacking Lars Vilks during his talk at Uppsala University in Sweden.

Today is International Blasphemy Rights Day 2010. It’s purpose is to promote free speech by commemorating the publishing of the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons.

As you may know, depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad in anyway is against the rules. Against Islam’s rules, any way. The problem is that many Muslims believe that Islam’s rules are applicable to those of us outside of Islam.

Lars Vilks drew a few pictures of the Islamic prophet with the body of a dog in 2007. Here is a video taken earlier this year of him giving a talk at Uppsala University in Sweden ... Actually, here is a video of Muslims attacking him during his talk because of the aforementioned drawings:

His home was fire-bombed a few days after this video was shot.

He has been invited back by the University for a do-over on October 7th. I find this to be an extremely nobel act, both on his part and that of the University. In Islam, the punishment for blasphemy is death, and those who believe Islamic rules apply to everyone have an uncanny knack for carrying out punishment.

My act of blasphemy for the day is to wish Mr. Vilks the best of luck and a long life.
