Happy Yolobus Fare Increase Day

My fare went up from $2 to $3. While the reasons Yolobus gives for these increases (pdf link) do make clear sense, Yolobus does need to consider that these extremely steep rate increases are sudden and come at a time not all of us can afford to pay them. It is their choice to risk reducing ridership rather than cut hours or stop routs that no one uses.

Has anyone ever seen a bus on Third Street with a person on it? I don’t recall ever seeing such a thing, and I was raised here.

I am still considering the idea of selling my truck to offset these increases. I find taking the bus to work to be extremely liberating, and much safer than driving myself. It’s also nice not to have to move my car every two hours to avoid a parking ticket.

I’ll keep you posted on the truck thing. If anyone is curious, it’s a dark gray 2WD 2000 Ford Ranger XLT manual transmission w/ 75k miles on it. Very reliable, very clean. Bluebook is about $2,500.
