Frustration Free Packaging

My sincerest kudos to Amazon for their daunting Frustration Free Packaging initiative.

Epson over packaging

Amazon is taking initiative to reduce ridiculous product packaging! I have a personal vendetta against blister packs, myself (see above image).

Amazon is offering what they call “Frustration-Free Packaging” on select items they carry. Amazon works directly with the manufacturers to create simplified, recyclable packaging that the products go into right off the assembly line. Which not only reduces the amount of packaging materials used, but reduces the amount of packaging materials created in the first place!

This is a brilliant idea for an online store where customers browse photographs of objects rather than the objects themselves on shelves. It shows incredible initiative, and they must be getting at least a little bit of a smug buzz from this. I have certainly sent my share of hate mail to manufacturers who use excessive and/or dangerous packaging. I secretly (or not so secretly) hope they seriously offend a few manufacturers with this new initiative.

In closing, I would like to make clear my disgust to manufacturers who package their products in blister packs/clamshells. Despite the fact that I am extremely dexterous with my hands, I frequently injure myself on this type of packaging. It is difficult and dangerous to open. I personally do not purchase items in this type of packaging, and I do my best to avoid brands that use this type of packaging on any of their products, even if the product I want to buy isn't in this type of package.

I urge my readers to treat blister packs as if they were created by terrorists. Do your best not support terrorism readers!
