Post Cabin Trip 2007

After dinner smokes at the cabin

Calm, cool, and collected, I'm back from the 2007 cabin trip and back in action. It was full of the usual fun, and without any of the danger or discomforts of the past. With each trip, you learn a little more about how to make the next one that much better.

After dinner smokes at the cabin

Calm, cool, and collected, I'm back from the 2007 cabin trip and back in action. It was full of the usual fun, and without any of the danger or discomforts of the past. With each trip, you learn a little more about how to make the next one that much better. What I have learned in past trips:

  • Buy a high quality floatie for the river
  • Bring river shoes
  • Multiple iPods are a must
  • Don't drink too much on the last night
  • Drive a truck with air conditioning
What I learned this trip:
  • Ukulele is more practical than a guitar
  • Get a new camera
  • Bring more pants and a better jacket
  • Real boots are not purchased at Target
In addition to the things I learned that will make future cabin trips better, I also learned skills that will improve the quality of my life in general:
  • I can now tie knots clove, bowline, sheet bend, figure-eight, and reef
  • I learned how to play Dueling Banjos, Cripple Creek and East Bound and Down on the Uke
  • I can play Yahtzee, but I don't enjoy it
  • I'm not affraid to jump naked into a cold ass river off of giant rocks
Indeed, this year's cabin trip was a long overdue refresh. Especially after missing last year. More cabin photos have been posted to my Flickr, and there are also a few videos floating around the internet as well.
