Are You Threatening Me

Eternal Punishment for my Family

Apr 5, 2009 7:52 AM

The Church of God of Prophecy pamphleted our door yesterday with this little gem explaining to us insightful little bits of enlightenment pulled from the bible, which vaguely explain where heaven is (above), where hell is (beneath), and that wicked people burn in hell.

I’m no stranger to Christian propaganda—Hell, I used to sling it—But this little brochure, with its death metal logo type, and headstone back drop, seem particularly menacing. The biblical excerpts they included go nicely with the cover, too. Passages encouraging self mutilation, revenge, and excitement about burning people alive abound.

While I do find the occasional pamphleted church threats harmlessly amusing, they do alarm me to some degree. The fact that there is a large group of people down our street that thinks exposing my kids to this spiritual horror propaganda is good for humanity is quite offensive when you think about it.

Perhaps I should consider whipping up a brochure of my own. A brochure of reason. Perhaps I could call it “The Big Reason.”

You know, there probably is no god. Now stop worrying and go enjoy your life.
